Branding, Graphic Design – Rudi’s Choice

Colin Stephenson advertising agency has worked with International Slab Sales (ISS) on various brands since 2009.
In 2011 ISS launched a new national brand for quality natural stone slabs – Rudi’s Choice. Colin Stephenson was appointed as the project manager and advertising studio to conceptualise the look and feel of the new brand as well as the corporate identity encompassing as the marketing materials and advertising campaigns. Colin Stephenson project managed & developed an integrated suite of designed marketing materials and signage.

The logo concept stems from the fact that Rudi Eggers, the Director of ISS has a great reputation for going to the ends of the earth to find and supply clients with the best quality natural stone. If Rudi puts his name on it that seals the quality of the product. The logo thus developed from the idea of using Rudi’s signature as the key element. Colin Stephenson also designed a range of graphic icons to distinguish the stone types as well as a unique creative visual palette of images and illustrations linked to the exotic destinations from which the product originates to round off the corporate identity.

Colin Stephenson developed a set of signature adverts forming a large part of the brand’s launch campaign. The advertising campaign featured nationally and so the new corporate identity for Rudi’s choice was launched. The Colin Stephenson studio created themed adverts which would convey the destinations of origin and place the brand as a unique handpicked quality product. The on-going series of print adverts takes viewers into the exploration process that Rudi goes through to source the best natural stone. The post card look and feel of the advertising campaign was rolled out across other print materials, including a full colour glossy product brochure, corporate stationery as well as car signage, point of sale graphics and exhibition stand graphics.

A national launch of Rudi’s Choice required the Colin Stephenson design team to design large format display graphics and pull-up banners as well as email campaigns and various designed corporate marketing items such as branded bags, wine cases and caps. Along with these Colin Stephenson developed Rudi’s Choice branded vehicle wraps, product labels, in-store graphics and display billboards. Exhibition display graphics were also designed to encompass all the aspects of the advertising campaign and carry the brand values across visually in a unified graphic message.

ISS international slab sales

Colin Stephenson based in the Garden Route project managed the ISS (International Slab Sales, South Africa) corporate rebrand.

Colin Stephenson started the re-branding process by tackling the logo graphic and modernised and refreshed the corporate colours that are to represent the well-established stone slab suppliers. Once the graphic had been set all the corporate stationery, advertising, store signage, car signage as well as website have been re-design to keep within the brand guidelines of the new corporate identity.

Colin Stephenson website design agency, proposed a content management system driven website to showcase the company’s products, brands as well as galleries and news archive. The data on the site is dynamic and can be controlled by the client to keep all the news and product details current and up to date. The design style of the bespoke content management system again incorporates the new brand DNA and is focused on stylishly representing all the brands and high quality products that ISS represent.

The latest version of the website is a custom design content management system driven website development.

Colin Stephenson consulted with the directors of ARCXL, Mossel Bay in regards a corporate re-branding exercise. As branding and Corporate re-branding are key services Colin Stephenson offer we took the directors through a staged process of exploring various design permutations of their corporate image.

Colin Stephenson work for clients throughout South Africa and do a lot of branding development work. We have developed many successful logos or brands for clients and have handled corporate re-branding exercises for some very prominent multi-nationals.

Colin Stephenson Design follow a multi-phase process when developing an illustration or corporate Identity for a client. The first step is to assist the client to form the brief for the project and do any research required to position the brand.

Stage 2 involves research on our part and then broad concepts. These concepts are presented to the client via a unique client devsite. After the client has provided feedback we progress to stage 3 to refine the best concepts and then finesse the logo into a well-designed brand.

From here Colin Stephenson Design roll out the new corporate image or CI into print materials, corporate stationery, online platforms and websites and any particular marketing or branding items the clients may require.

Neolith corporate brochure

Colin Stephenson Design has worked with the Neolith marketing team to develop an advertising campaign that includes the design of a series of print adverts placed in the main home and architecture magazines.

The advert design focuses on the use of the surfaces in home & commercial spaces. The graphic design of the advertising also needs to cover the architectural uses of the surface. A strong use of application photography within the advertising campaign and a clear graphic design style have been the approach used to establish the Neolith brand in the South African market place.

The brand management work Colin Stephenson has developed for Neolith has included branding design across print graphic design, including advertising, brochure design and technical manual design as well as many other applications. Colin Stephenson has also handled the website design and development for the Neolith website.

Flordis marketing materials

Flordis Natural Medicines is part of the international SFI group. As the Local graphic design and branding agency that support Flordis Colin Stephenson has been involved in designing the various marketing campaigns.

Working closing with international branding standards and marketing offices in South Africa, Europe and Australia Colin Stephenson was selected to design the new product brand image for the Flordis Fix product and roll the design out across the packaging and marketing materials to launch the product.

The new product branding and graphic design elements will now be built into the international branding standards in that way Colin Stephenson are part of the international collaborative team dealing with the brand management for Flordis Internationally.

Anmaraté Corporate Identity & Packaging

Anmaraté is a national pharmaceutical company based in the Garden Route, who appointed Colin Stephenson as brand guardian and advertising agency since December 2006.

Our relationship with the management and marketing team at Anmaraté has grown from strength to strength. Colin Stephenson has taken the time to research and understand in detail the products and the target audience that Anmaraté is focusing its business on. This understanding has provided a good basis on which to develop their branding and corporate marketing material.

A big part of our initial role as branding agency on these projects was to redesign the Anmaraté brand in line with their evolved ideas and new corporate identity, as well as packaging design for several of their products. The first Product image that we completely revitalized was Coloprep. The brief was to produce a colourful, strong visual effect which was both modern and cutting edge while still being inviting to the client and professionals.

Then to launch the new look Coloprep packaging and Anmaraté brand, Colin Stephenson developed a print advertising campaign that would really catch the medical professionals attention. Additional printed educational instructions have been designed with illustrated graphic timelines to overcome patient illiteracy and make the product more user friendly.

Colin Stephenson was appointed the website design project manager to design and develop a new website that would bring the Anmaraté brand to life online. The website includes product information, features and industry news. Our on-going relationship with Anmaraté enabled Colin Stephenson to refine marketing concepts and develop new design ideas for advertising and marketing material. This process evolves as they grow and change their business in the Garden Route and Nationally in South Africa.

Café Quartz Branding & Brochure Design

In 2011 Colin Stephenson was appointed by International Slab Sales (ISS) as the advertising manager responsible for branding a new product. Colin Stephenson and his team started the process by extensive market research and studies of various different brand sectors and market related products. The new branding and corporate identity was born as a result of this research.

The Colin Stephenson design team developed a corporate image for Café Quartz starting with the logo and applied branding. The corporate identity related strongly to an affluent café culture. The logo for Café Quartz was illustrated in a striking stamp-like format that would easily be applied to any marketing material as well as embellish any of their products successfully. The look of the brand needed to be designed with a young, aspirant market in mind. A free flowing brush stroke logo was designed and became the elegant contained brand for Café Quartz. The simplicity of the CQ logo allows it to be used easily across all corporate printed brochures and corporate stationery as well as websites and online marketing materials.

Colin Stephenson designed the printed brochure as well as in store point of sale display graphics for the brochure display rack. Branded product and sample labels also show off the CQ logo and corporate branding which works well in mono tone and at a small scale.

Colin Stephenson was then appointed as the website design agency based in the Garden Route to design and develop the new Café Quartz website (www.cafequartz.co.za). The main task of the website is to showcase a new range of product. 

As part of the product launch Colin Stephenson developed a compact website for Café Quartz with an overview of colour palettes and technical specifications on the product. Key product images were also commissioned and photographed by the Colin Stephenson photographers.
